About:
Shania graduated with honors from Illinois State University in 2022, earning a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology and minors in Sociology and Philosophy. In 2024, she completed her Master’s degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology and a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Illinois State University. She is currently working towards her LPC licensure and Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapy (EXAT) Certification.
Shania’s clinical experiences include interning as a SASS therapist at The Center for Youth and Family Solutions and volunteering as a Paraprofessional Crisis Hotline worker for PATH Crisis Center. Additionally, she has worked as an activities assistant in a nursing home and as a preschool and aftercare assistant at an elementary school.
Shania believes that a strong, honest, and collaborative therapeutic relationship is crucial for progress towards healing and improvement. She dedicates time and effort to building trust and rapport with her clients. She utilizes an eclectic approach to counseling, incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness Practices, and non-traditional methods of expression such as art, music, writing, and video games. This flexibility allows her to tailor each session to her clients' interests and experiences. Shania strives to create a safe and respectful environment where clients of all ages and backgrounds feel supported.
